Cullen Montgomery Baker was an American outlaw and folk hero who operated in Texas and Arkansas during the mid-1800s. Born in Missouri in 1835, he was known for his violent and ruthless nature, earning a reputation as a notorious bandit and outlaw.
Baker was involved in numerous criminal activities, including cattle rustling, robbery, and murder. He was said to have killed over a dozen men during his criminal career. Despite his violent reputation, he was also known for being loyal to his friends and allies, earning him the admiration of many in the area.
Baker's outlaw career came to an end in 1862 when he was captured and sentenced to death for his crimes. However, he managed to escape from prison and went on the run, continuing his criminal activities until he was eventually shot and killed by Texas Rangers in 1869.
Today, Cullen Baker is remembered as a notorious outlaw and anti-hero of the Old West, with his legend living on in American folklore and popular culture.
